2/4 Creation & techniques

Galerie MICA and LAB are at the heart of innovation. You doubt it?

All technological innovations are born jointly from technical mastery and inventiveness. Each tool, from the flint to the supercomputer, is the result of perfecting techniques that are first and foremost artisanal (stone cutting, exploitation of raw materials) linked to inventiveness and creation. Human knowledge is the sum of all this technical, theoretical knowledge mixed with the ability to create. Without these components, there can be no progress and no industry. The unlikely decompartmentalization between crafts, art and innovation is therefore irrelevant.

Galerie MICA and LAB intend to bring together all these components of innovation around the same project, the creation of an object. As in all innovation companies, it is above all a question of questioning the function of an object by taking into account contemporary issues. The importance of the function of a chaise longue or a desk can be put into perspective. Nevertheless, its production and use are very much at the centre of current preoccupations. Isn't it better to promote local and sustainable craftsmanship and materials than to exploit natural resources and relocate jobs in our current context? Producing an object thought out in collaboration with craftsmen, designers and specialists in the human body as well as specialized practitioners, means innovating in order to tend towards ethical consumption for the benefit of a smaller scale, healthier and sustainable economy.

And you, do you do the same for innovation?
